MMiN Conference Code of Conduct
The International Society for Monitoring Molecules in Neuroscience (hereafter “The Society”) strives to ensure that the meetings held by The Society are free from discriminatory experiences and safe for all participants.
Prohibited conduct includes but is not limited to:
1. Harassment or discrimination
2. Sexual harassment/sexual assault
3. Violence, physical harm, threats of violence
4. Abusive conduct
5. Unprofessional behavior including interruption of events, speakers, sessions.
Discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, creed, age, sex, gender (including gender identity), pregnancy status, physical or mental disability, perceived disability, ancestry, marital status, genetic information, sexual orientation, citizenship, veteran status, professional status or any other basis protected by federal, state, or local laws is not tolerated. Harassment for any of the above statuses, or harassment that does not fall under any of the above statuses, will not be tolerated. Harassment includes but is not limited to conduct that creates an intimidating, offensive, or hostile environment, and it may be verbal (auditory), physical, or visual. It includes but it is not limited to: slurs, epithets, derogatory comments, insults, degrading or obscene words, jokes, demeaning statements, offensive gestures, pictures/drawings/cartoons, etc. Sexual harassment may be conducted by people of any sex/gender and towards people of any sex/gender. Conduct that may begin as consensual may become harassment if a party withdraws consent.
This code of conduct applies to all meeting attendees, including but not limited to: registered attendees, speakers, guests, exhibitors, contractors, staff, and volunteers at all venues and events. It encompasses both official meeting events, and social events ancillary to the meeting in both public and private locations. It encompasses the time from the onset of the meeting, to the close of the meeting, inclusive of travel dates to and from the meeting.
The Society will uphold and enforce this code of conduct policy, and participation in the meeting implies consent to these stipulations. Violators of this conduct policy will be subject to disciplinary action, including exclusion, in part or entirely, from the current and future meetings. The Society reserves the right to take action against meeting participants who engage in inappropriate conduct, even if it is not specifically referred to in this code of conduct statement or is not legally actionable.
The following pledge is agreed to by all meeting attendees: By attending the meeting I confirm that I have read the Code of Conduct policy for The International Society for Monitoring Molecules and agree that is it is my responsibility to be familiar with and abide by the terms set forth herein. I will cooperate with any formal or informal inquiry into my behavior and/or actions at meetings held by The Society. I agree to be bound by the decisions of The Society, which may take action as deemed appropriate by the President and executive board members, including exclusion from the current and future meetings (refunds will not be made.)
